Well Duh or Epiphany?

Years ago I was speaking to someone about my not having bread anymore because it’s made from wheat when she said ‘well just have pasta’ (this was in the days before corn and rice pasta)! I was like how could you not know that pasta is made from wheat ! And this recently made me think of my surprise ( the well duh or epiphany moment) around finding out that undiagnosed ADHD may be present in aged people and the ADHD has now become an issue due to the person being old. Are you as amazed as I am?
Unfortunately as we head into old age our brains do naturally slow down and then the symptoms of ADHD become more apparent because the aged person can’t maintain their usual (unknown) strategies of control over the ADHD symptoms.
It’s crazy the things we just aren’t aware of and I ask people to consider this new fact around ADHD that I have so recently learnt about and keep it in mind when supporting their loved ones and aged clients.
The article below is an easy read on this issue....
