About A Friendly Face Visitor Service

A Friendly Face Visitor Service was created by social worker Ann Gordon after her experience as an aged care worker showed her how socially isolated aged care residents and aged persons living in the community could become.
AFFVS was developed to assist families who are struggling to see their loved ones who are either living in Residential Aged Care, at home alone or currently in hospital long term, but want their loved ones to benefit from the social contact needed in order for their loved one to have a healthier/happier life.

AFFVS understands the stress today's families are under in trying to fulfil their commitments to work, to younger and older family members (the sandwich generation), the widening geographical distance between family members in our global society and people's individual health issues that impact on their ability to visit loved ones on a regular basis.

AFFVS can also visit when a holiday has been scheduled and there's a concern about a prolonged absence from the loved one's life.

*With up to 50% of long term Residential Aged Care residents suffering from depression, in part due to a lack of ongoing social contact, AFFVS is hoping this service will benefit not only the family member paying for the service and the resident who receives the visit, but also the facility or hospital worker - who are also under stress to provide more than just a physical health service to their residents/patients.
