the Aged Care Industry

On my travels to inform local aged related services and businesses of AFFVS I have come across a mixed response to what I am offering. Mostly the feedback has been very positive, which is good to hear, however some services have been highly suspicious and at times even appeared fearful of AFFVS. This is confusing to me as AFFVS is a micro business and will in no way impact negatively on their aged care service provision to local clients. It has made me think more on what the aged care industry is about and perhaps why there have been issues within this field over the years where perhaps the whole point of caring for our aged people has become more focused on financial gain and not the supporting of aged people. Yes AFFVS is a paid service – no disputing that- yet the main principle is to provide a beneficial service to the person paying for the visits( reducing their concerns) and the person receiving the visits( reduced social isolation and improved wellbeing). Profit is not the priority. I would like to see a change in the Aged Care field, especially now major issues have been revealed during this pandemic in some of our aged care facilities, for aged services to be more receptive to being inclusive, transparent and open to change. Surely we are all in this together for the purpose of assisting our aged population and making their twilight years a lovely time of life.
