Shopping adventure

I recently went to a lovely little gift shop in a regional town on my way back to Albany and overheard a conversation between a lady and a gentleman in their 70's commenting to the also older person behind the counter about how invisible they felt when in the shops. That they were overlooked by the staff because they aren't young anymore. The lady behind the till agreed and said she felt the same when in the bigger shops, and she hardly left her small town anymore, this being one of the reasons. This conversation made me feel quite sad , that people up in years felt overlooked due to their age only. If this is happening in shops and so on how do people in retirement homes, or aged facilities feel ? I'm 48 this year and I remember very clearly the day the men's appreciative looks went to my teenage daughter rather than me, it was like a definitive sign of things to come, I was outdated lol. In our culture of looks and appearances reigning over morals and being a decent person I guess the older you are (and looks etc naturally fade) we will be pushed out even more- just like in Logan's Run. Well I for one am not going quietly into the future and I will be definitely be making my clients know they are of the utmost value and cared about regardless of how old they may be or how many wrinkles or sun spots they have. Hail to aging because the alternative will one day come to us all.
